Here is how you buy bitcoin
Lory Kehoe of Blockchain Ireland joined us for a webinar on Wednesday and inevitably the conversation flowed into cryptocurrencies and in turn to the how/why/where of buying crypto.
Cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ethereum are highly volatile, so it goes without saying don't invest money you can't afford to lose and if you are buying it for your portfolio of investments ensure it is only a small percentage of a balanced portfolio.

Coinbase
Coinbase allows you to buy and sell popular digital currencies, keeping track of them in the one place. It allows you to invest in cryptocurrency slowly over time by scheduling buys daily, weekly, or monthly.
They also have a useful learning platform and hub here.
Gemini
Gemini is a regulated cryptocurrency exchange, wallet, and custodian that makes it simple and secure to buy bitcoin, ether, and other cryptocurrencies. Founded by the Winklevoss twins (familiar to fans of the social network), this platform offers a slick app for users looking to buy a variety of crptos.

Revolut
It's become so omnipresent that people now don't transfer money after brunch (or a socially distanced walk and coffee for the times that are in it.), they 'revolut' you. The excellent platform now allows you to buy a wide variety of cryptocurrencies within a platform so easy my 79 year old dad could use. More info can be found here.
Bitcove
Irish company Bitcove started in 2014 when bitcoin was hovering around the €278 mark. Forget the Winklevoss twins, this firm is owned by Irish brothers Peter and James Nagle.
You can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum and more at Bitcove! It is currently available in Ireland and South Africa. They also have Bitcoin ATMs in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. You can read more about bitcove here.
This site offers a virtual smorgasboard of crypto related facilities. Here's what cryptonews had to say about them. ''Crypto.com is a beginner-friendly crypto trading platform that makes it super easy to acquire, exchange, and spend crypto. Besides, anyone can make use of its other crypto services like Exchange, DeFi Swap and Wallet, Staking, Earn, Pay, and Lending.'' While their offering looks fantastic, it must be said that the online reviews on trustpilot are a little mixed to put it mildly.
